Postpartum depression

Do you feel overwhelmed by emotions you can’t name?

Are you wondering if your joy should feel different?

Struggling to connect with your baby or yourself?

Postpartum is about recovery and rebalancing identity, emotional health, and relationships. The shift can surface unexpected feelings, and without support, those emotions can grow heavy and isolating.

How My Postpartum Therapy Works

Blue flowers

I use neuroscience and psychotherapy to work with new moms, helping them understand and get through the emotional and psychological changes postpartum.

We’ll set personalized goals so you can track progress and be more present, supported, and confident as a mom.

My approach includes:

  • Helps you manage big emotions, stay present, and handle stress without shutting down. Especially useful when postpartum feelings feel overwhelming or “too much.”

  • Guides you in making space for hard thoughts and feelings while still caring for your baby, your values, and yourself.

  • Helps you slow down, soothe anxious thoughts, and be more present with yourself and your baby.

Client Testimonials

⋆⋆⋆⋆⋆

It was a hard step to take but one of the best decisions of my life. It brought me to Dr. Ivey Burton.I believed it would be a straightforward process but starting to unravel one issue led to another. Through it all, Ivey kept me focused on my goals for the last years of my life. Each session began there and enabled me to keep that as the focus.Even though my sessions with Ivey have come to an end, I find myself returning to the strategies she helped me to learn each day. Time with her was a gift!

Collaborating with Dr. Ivey proved to be highly beneficial. Initially, I approached therapy with a reserved mindset. Dr. Ivey assisted me in comprehending my emotions and navigating my depression. She held me accountable after each session and provided me with the appropriate strategies to overcome my daily challenges. Consequently, I have improved my emotional management skills. She simply encouraged me to acknowledge my emotions, and over time, I developed effective coping mechanisms for managing anxiety and depression.

About Me

I’m a therapist and a mother who has lived through the emotional highs and lows of postpartum life.

I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and offer concrete strategies you can use right away. My approach balances depth and humor, helping clients engage with challenges in a more manageable way.

Outside of therapy I’ve been a lifelong athlete and am currently a masters swimmer, cyclist and an avid hiker who has climbed Kilimanjaro, trekked in the Himalayas, Andes, and, closer to home, the Sierra Nevada range.

I share my home (and much of my heart) with my two furry children. I’m also a devoted music fan who enjoys playing piano and finding inspiration in live music. These experiences remind me of the importance of balance, persistence, and joy in life – the values I also bring to my work as a therapist.
